The challenge
Westwater Frameworks employs eighteen people. One of them, the planning manager, is responsible for maintaining the master programme across three concurrent water infrastructure sites worth £8 million in total. Their client expects monthly progress reports formatted to a specific template.
Each month, the planning manager spent the best part of a day preparing the reports. Exporting from Asta Powerproject, copying baseline and forecast dates into Excel, calculating variance, writing narrative commentary, formatting into the client template, and sending. The work was repetitive and error-prone.
The team had considered Power BI but ruled it out on cost and complexity. They had no analyst. They had no time to maintain dashboards. They wanted something simpler than what they had, not more sophisticated.
The solution
